Each actor reads a few lines of your text, so you compare like with like instead of judging demo reels recorded for other clients.

Why is there no catalogue of voice actors?
Voices are matched to each script, so a shortlist from your brief is more useful than a list of profiles. A public catalogue with real demos is not published yet.
Can I choose a male or a female voice?
Yes. Gender is part of the brief, like age and accent.
